Reinvigorating SASY’s Values and Vision
How do you share your school’s values and mission in a way that doesn’t just explain them, but inspires?
How do you share your school’s values and mission in a way that doesn’t just explain them, but inspires?
SASY approached us with a multifaceted challenge. They wanted to revitalise their values so they didn’t fade into the background of day-to-day school life and, at the same time, align their entire community around a clear and shared vision for the future.
They were looking for a visual solution that would resonate with students, feel authentic to their lived experience, and be easily referenced by the teaching team as part of everyday practice.
To begin, we brought together a group of teachers and facilities staff for a half-day workshop focused on unpacking SASY’s values, how they were currently perceived and what they meant to individuals across the school community.
Starting with the existing values, the team sketched ideas and visual interpretations of each one, while keeping the school’s aspirations and long-term goals front of mind.
These sketches became the foundation for the final values system. By embedding the team’s perspective from the outset, we ensured the outcomes felt authentic. Values students could see themselves in, connect with, and take ownership of.
The final deliverables included a suite of individual value illustrations that SASY can use across presentations, learning materials and school collateral.
We also brought these together into a single, cohesive poster, with the school’s mission statement placed at the centre. Designed for easy printing and display, this central piece can be shared throughout the school, helping keep SASY’s values visible, consistent and front of mind for students and staff alike.
By involving the SASY team in the process and translating abstract ideas into relatable visuals, SASY now has a shared language around its values. Students are better able to recognise, reference and reflect on the behaviours these values represent, while staff can easily weave them into everyday conversations, learning moments and decision-making.
We’re excited to be partnering with SASY again in 2026. Building on this project, we’ll be creating a Visionsketch poster that outlines SASY’s blueprint and approach, alongside a supporting video.
We’re also looking forward to leading a professional sketching development program with students, designed to strengthen their visual thinking and problem-solving skills.
