Why Use Sketch Videos?

The Science of Storytelling

It isn’t just art—it’s neuroscience. Sketch videos leverage a psychological phenomenon known as “anticipation.” As the viewer watches the hand draw, their brain naturally tries to guess what is coming next. This locks in attention and releases dopamine when the image creates meaning.

Combined with audio narration, this engages both the visual and auditory processing centers of the brain simultaneously, increasing information retention by up to 15% compared to talking-head videos.

Key Benefits of Using Explainer Videos

  • Distilling the Complex: We strip away the noise. By converting abstract concepts into concrete visuals, we force simplicity. We help you refine your message until it is crystal clear, and accessible to everyone.
  • Hypnotic Engagement: In an age of digital distraction, sketch videos are “sticky.” The constant motion of the artist’s hand keeps the viewer’s eye moving and makes it engaging. You are not just broadcasting information; you are taking the viewer on a visual journey.
  • Universal Accessibility: Sketch videos transcend barriers. By using universal visual symbols rather than specific actors or locations, these videos appeal to diverse audiences regardless of background, age, or culture. This makes them the ultimate tool for public awareness campaigns and company-wide internal announcements.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • How much does a sketch video cost?

Every story is unique—some are sharp 60-second explainers, while others are deep-dive 5-minute strategic narratives. As a ballpark, a 60-second bespoke video is approximately AUD $8,000.

  • How long is the production process?

We recommend allowing 5–6 weeks from start to finish. If you require a video in a shorter timeframe, contact us and we’ll see if we can work something out.

  • Who writes the script?

Some clients have a very firm idea about how they want to tell their story, and possess the copywriting skills to create a high quality script on their own. Others trust us to craft a succinct, engaging script—with their input, of course. We can work with you, regardless of which camp you fall into.

  • Can I choose my artist?

Yes. If you’d like, we can share a selection of available artists for you to choose from, along with examples of their work. Artist availability varies, so booking with more notice gives you the best options.

  • Do we get to choose the voiceover and music?

Absolutely. We provide a range of professional voice talent options (various genders, accents, and tones) to ensure the video matches your brand’s personality. We also curate a selection of background music tracks that complement the energy of the illustrations.

  • Do you also create vector animation / motion graphics?

Yes, we do. Traditional motion graphics and vector animation is something that our clients have begun asking for, so we’ve grown the team to include this as a service. Get in touch and we’ll share some examples.

  • How many rounds of feedback will I have?

We typically include two rounds of feedback on the script and storyboard, and one round of feedback on the video edit. This process helps ensure the strongest final result.
